Fernando Alonso won the first night race! That was also his first win in just a little over a year. From 15th on grid to first. I was so hoping that Felipe or Kimi to win but then at least it wasn't Har-mee-tan who won. That stupid idiot who has that I-deserve-to-win-the-world-championship attitude. Massa is just trailing by 7points with 3races to go he sure will be able to catch up and win Har-mee-tan. Go Massa! I think the season is over for Kimi, I hate to say it but he is just trailing by one point too much. But then, never write him off. hurhur. Ok, I'm off to do my work. O levels in 17 days!

Thanks for reading,
Tschüß.

Hi guys, another week has gone and I'm only left with one last week in school. How time flies. Another is just gonna be over soon. Honestly I don't know what to feel hurhur. Anyway this is my 201st post. Look backing at my first post which was totally horrendous I certainly mature in my writing over the span of close to 2.5years. hurhur.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. I don't know what to say. I prolly just drop by another one time or two then O level will start already. TIME FLIES. Gracious.

I want to thank someone for teaching me one of my worst subject haha and it doesn't seem that bad after all! Ok, off to do some work then I will be off to watch F1!

Thanks for reading,
Tschüß.

I feel like saying Auf Wiedersehen soon.

Hi guys, today in chemistry class we had this thing about flammable and inflammable. On why flammable has the same meaning as inflammable since for many words, by adding a prefix 'in' the thing immediately change to a negative meaning. So I search and I found an article. Here goes.

No, No, No!

Greetings,

As we hurl ourselves at the third (or fourth, depending on your mathematical persuasion) year of the new millennium, and everyone is being all positive and gung-ho, making and breaking New Year's resolutions with gay abandon, I thought this would be a good time to focus on the negative ... because negatives are easier to understand ... or are they?

As Lavinia said, stamping her daintily-clad foot just the other day, "No, no, a thousand times no!"

In English, we often form negatives by adding a prefix to words:

likely - unlikely

understood - misunderstood

complete - incomplete

modest - immodest

reversible - irreversible

logical - illogical

Not really all that logical, is it? All those different prefixes, all meaning the same thing ... NO!

But you can be pretty sure that if you add a prefix to a word, you're changing its meaning ... Umm ... except for words like "flammable" and "inflammable."

If something is "flammable" it means it will burn readily ... right? So ... if it's "inflammable" that should mean it doesn't burn ... right?

Wrong. Both words mean the same.

Visitors to the Apostrophe Forum have been addressing this problem of flammable and inflammable materials. Richard Tinsley did some investigating and found the following satisfactory explanation at the Word Detective site: http://www.word-detective.com/120398.html

Blame it on Latin and its tricky prefixes. In the beginning, there was "inflammable," a perfectly nice English word based on the Latin "inflammare," meaning "to kindle," from "in" (in) plus "flamma" (flame). "Inflammable" became standard English in the 16th century. So far, so good.

Comes the 19th century, and some well-meaning soul dreamt up the word "flammable," basing it on a slightly different Latin word, "flammare," meaning "to set on fire." There was nothing terribly wrong with "flammable," but it never really caught on. After all, we already had "inflammable," so "flammable" pretty much died out in the 1800's.

"But wait," you say, "I saw 'flammable' just the other day." Indeed you did. "Flammable" came back, one of the few successful instances of social engineering of language.

The Latin prefix "in," while it sometimes means just "in" (as in "inflammable"), more often turns up in English words meaning "not" (as in "invisible" -- "not visible"). After World War Two, safety officials on both sides of the Atlantic decided that folks were too likely to see "inflammable" and decide that the word meant "fireproof," so various agencies set about encouraging the revival of "flammable" as a substitute. The campaign seems to have worked, and "inflammable" has all but disappeared.

That left what to call something that was not likely to burst into flames, but here the process of linguistic renovation was easier. "Non-flammable" is a nice, comforting word, and besides, it's far easier on the tongue than its now thankfully obsolete precursor, "non-inflammable."

The Oxford English Dictionary adds this usage note: Historically, flammable and inflammable mean the same thing. However, the presence of the prefix in- has misled many people into assuming that inflammable means "not flammable" or "noncombustible." The prefix -in in inflammable is not, however, the Latin negative prefix -in, which is related to the English -un and appears in such words as indecent and inglorious. Rather, this -in is an intensive prefix derived from the Latin preposition in. This prefix also appears in the word enflame. But many people are not aware of this derivation, and for clarity's sake it is advisable to use only flammable to give warnings.

Hope this helps. =)

Hi guys!

Roger Federer won his 5th successive US Open title and Serena Williams won her 3rd Us Open title!

Tomorrow will be the last day of prelims. How time flies, October 16 will be when it all starts and November 11 will be the day it ends and everyone havoc. I don't know why, but I kinda feel that year by year, it just passes faster and faster. Although I would love to move on quickly, somehow it all seems that fast, before I know it, I will be blogging about post-O levels life blah-blah-blah.

Since O levels is coming, I will be blogging less often, popping by once in awhile only. =) that'll be cool. I'm gonna transform into mugger already. Final 2months.

OH oh, and I don't know whether I have some kinda memory loss problem, I will think of doing something this second and the next second, I will be thinking ,''What was I suppose to do?" MAN, it's kinda getting on to my nerve that I keep forgetting what I wanna do. ARGH, see doctor?! LOL.

I wanna see the world, honestly I do. Thats why I'll be planning to do something. *tinks*

The world is so big, I hope I live to see the places I wanna go.

I wanna learn German.

This post is incredibly full of random items, I was just taking a breather from my Chemistry revision. I did 2 P.O.A MCQ paper today. Great. I got the same score for both paper, consistency, but a negative one. I got only 12/30. you-hoo~

okok, stop my ramblings.

Thanks for reading.

Hi guys!

US OPEN

Jelena Jankovic will face Serena Williams at 9am tomorrow morning Singapore time.

Roger Federer beat Novak Djokovic

3-6
7-5
5-7
2-6

and will face the winner of the Murray-Nadal match. Murray-Nadal match was postponed till to the heavy downpour and before they left the courts Murray leads 2sets to none and third set nadal leads 3-2. I can't wait to see the finals of the men's singles.

I watched Formula 1 just now, the Belgian Grand Prix, I thought Kimi was going to win when he was overtaken by Lewis and then crashed at the last 2 laps! I thought he would win his 4th sucessive title here in Belgium but that clearly didn't happen. Damn! I hope Kimi wins in the Singtel Singapore Grand Prix 3 weeks from now!

I was in town on Thursday, sorry for not posting though, just plain lazy. haha.
I just went to check out a few stuffs. I saw 2 things that I liked and am planning to buy it, soon! Before I left, I went to Goodwood Park Hotel to collect mooncakes. It was absolutely grand inside, I sort of couldn't find my way to the Deli Counter because I took another entrance. Really Really Magnificent, can see all those tai tais having afternoon tea with an absolutely fabulous view of the swimming pool. There were like plants and trees surrounding the swimming pool and it was really beautiful. I was thinking, if Our graduation ceremony is there, how nice would it be!

While I was crossing the traffic from Takashimaya to Paragon, I saw this cool car and I was looking to see what brand was it, so I kinda tip toe and look, it was circular so I thought it was BMW or something then something caught my eye, the crown-like logo at the front of the car! I went oh-gosh! MASERATI! It wasn't the Grand and majestic kind of Maserati but the vroom-vroom sports car type. Totally awesome, except for the fact that the driver was an old uncle with, whom I think, is the wife. DAMN. Couldn't take picture because I was in the middle of traffic and I would look absolutely dumb to take a picture with the driver inside.

I don't have school tomorrow because they are taking the MT paper so I have another extra day to study for SS! I'm probably going to some library and study. 2more months to go and it's all over.

Tschüß!

Hi guys!

US OPEN

Novak Djokovic,seeded 3rd

defeated

Tommy Robredo,seeded 15th.

6-4
2-6
3-6
7-5
3-6

in 3hours 44minutes.

Sorry, my mistake in the previous post, I thought Djokovic will faced Fernando Gonzalez but it was Andy Roddick who faced Gonzalez and defeated him this morning(Singapore Time)
6-2
6-4
6-1

So, Novak Djokovic will face the 8th seeded Andy Roddick in the quarter finals. I watched the match between Robredo and Djokovic until 4 this morning, when the match when to the 5th set I was like 'how can you do this!' to the big black box. Well, I was still happy that Djokovic won! Hoho. Djokovic seems to be not on form havin' to take so long to win a match and the commentators said that this might be the 'Olympic hangover' I just hope that Djokovic can get into at least the final just like he did last year.

Roger Federer,seeded 2nd.

defeated

Igor Andreev,seeded 23rd.

7-6(7-5)
6-7(5-7)
3-6
6-3
3-6

This is the first 2sets that Federer dropped in the whole tournament if am not wrong.

If Federer and Djokovic defeated their quarter-finals opponent, Then they will face each other in the semi-finals, then, I wouldn't know who to support. As long as Nadal don't win this Grand Slam then it's ok. haha.

Elena Dementieva will be facing Jelena Jankovic in the Semi-finals while Williams sisters will face each other in the quarter-finals tonight, or tomorrow morning. Dinara Safina will face Flavia Penneta in the quarter-finals tonight, or tomorrow morning as well. I hope Elena Dementieva will win this year's US Open to become the 3rd woman to win both a Olympic Gold and US Open in the same year!

Go Elena!
Go Djokovic!
Go Federer!

ok, will give you update soon!

Hi guys, Prelims phase one as ended last friday. Now am gonna get ready for phase 2 and in about another months time, I would be off for O levels. Damn, Mug period.

I've watched the latest episode of D.Gray-Man for like 1001 times. Just exaggerating maybe about 10times? I didn't count it, but i kept replaying that scene where the Generals come to the rescue. It was incredible cool, they settled the big akumas in like 4 minutes. Gracious, they are damn powerful, I tried to google their image to show you but it was to no avail but then, I like Cloud/Klaud and her Innocence Lau Shimin the best. Actually I can'y pick a favourite General because I love all of them, but then Lau Shimin is really cool. So is Judgement and Maker of Eden. General Sokaro is kind blood thirsty though and scary, he just creeps me but he is damn powerful too, slicing the enormous Akuma in just a few strokes. Godly.

I can't wait for the time where the Level 4 Akuma come and meet the Generals.
GO LAU SHIMIN!

Ok, what was I gonna blog about? OH YES! I watched Wall.E on Friday after havin' lunch with Claudia, Jazreel, Malcolm and PCK. And I watched Make It Happen and My Sassy Girl at Fort Canning Park with Claudia and PCK ytd. It was such a nice experience, star gazing in between breaks and feeling the breeze. I realize, if I look closely enough, there are alot alot alot more stars in the sky and they seem to be movin' It was damn cool. Ok, I'm off to sleep, I'm not gonna disrupt my sleeping patterns because it's only a week of break and I'm way late now.

Thanks for reading,
Cheers!

LAU SHIMIN!
