Hi guys. I just finished a book by Max Lucado. It's called Mocha with Max and here are some interesting excerpts that I thought I would love to share with all my Christian friends. =D This book is actually a compilation of some of the things that he previously wrote in other books and I feel this book is easy to understand as he uses a lot of analogies to help the readers to understand what he is trying to say.

And, yes, this is my belief so if you ain't interested skip the whole chunk and go to the bottom and read the less interesting stuffs. LOL.

1 Corinthians 13 : 4 - 8 (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

The author wrote that several years ago, someone challenged him to replace the world love in this passage with his name and he became a liar. "Max is patient, Max is kind, Max does not envy, he does not boast, he is not proud..." He said these words are false. He said in the next paragraph that no one can ever meet this standard that the passage set, all but one, Jesus.

Jesus is patient, Jesus is kind. Jesus does not envy, He does not boast, He is not proud. Jesus is not rude, He is not self-seeking, He is not easily angered, He keeps no record of wrongs. Jesus does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Jesus always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Jesus never fails.

I was so surprised at this passage. Jesus fits into everything! It's true! It was like some sort of revelation for me. Jesus never fails.

Another thing he wrote about was worry.

Regarding the things about which we fret:

92 percent of our worries are needless! Not only is worry irrelevant, doing nothing; worry is irreverent, distrusting God.

Now I know that I don't actually have to worry so much! =D

Those whom the people called trash, Jesus called treasures.

This is the last one I want to share with you guys.

Now I see why powerful people often wear sunglasses-the spotlights blinds them to reality. They suffer from a delusion that power means something ( it doesn't). They are under the impression that earthly authority will make a heavenly difference (it won't).
Can I prove my point? Take this quiz.

Name the ten wealthiest men in the world.
Name the last ten Heisman trophy winners.
Name the last ten winners of the Miss America contest.
Name eight people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
How about the last ten Academy Award winners for best pictures or the last decade's worth of World Series Winners?

How did you do? I didn't do well either. Surprisingly how quickly we forget, isn't it? And These are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one.

Think of three people you enjoy spending time with.
Name ten people who have taught you something worthwhile
Name five friends who have helped you in a difficult time.
List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
Easier? It was for me too. The lesson?

The people who make a difference are not the ones with the credentials, but one with the concern. ( I bold this on purpose. This struck me a lot. =D Hope it does to you, who is reading this, too.

This Mocha with Max book is certainly one to be kept and re-read it time and again. It really helps. Max Lucado uses the simplest way of telling us about God's love for us and how God feels for us. AND OF COURSE! I gotta thank the person who bought this book for me, without it I wouldn't possibly have known of this book and read it and this post wouldn't have been written.

So during the time when I've been missing, I have been reading reading reading and of course going out with my friends. I got to meet raymond and also my 老朋友门。 We had dinner at newton circus and the food was delicious albeit a little spicy. Have yet to get the pictures from Serene though. Probably get it from her in a few days time. We took a wholesome lots of pictures. It was just great seeing them again and catching up with them. And yes, Job-hunting is beginning. Gotta start working after the chalet this weekend.

'O' Levels is OVER!

I was so excited when the CPE said, "You may go." It marks the end of our secondary school years. I'm just so happy that I finish my 'O' Levels. It certainly have to be one of the greatest feeling ever! =D

After the last paper, some of my classmates and I went to Marina Square to celebrate and we had Yuki Yaki for lunch. We spent about 2.5hours there eating! It's steamboat style so we ate till we dropped. Serene, Joyce and I just couldn't get enough of those clams. I think we spent the last 30minutes eating clams only. We had like mountains of them and someone, I reckon is Subodha, said we eat clams like drinking water. haha. But, seriously, it is extremely addictive.

After lunch we went to the cactus and we saw those brain teasers there and we spent 30minutes trying to solve those puzzles and we agreed to buy each other those for christmas and we will exchange it. I'm like totally in love with the magical drawer thing. Can't wait to get my hands on one of it! =D

Well, it was seriously a great day spent with my classmates and I look forward to the chalet. =DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Oh yea, it's time to look for a job~~~~~~

Thanks for reading,
Tschüß!
